Charles Edward Liston, 88, long time resident of New Middletown, Ohio passed away in Hospice at Salem North on Wednesday March 24, 2021.

Charles who was born on January 15, 1933 in Bruceton Mills Preston County, West Virginia. He was the son of Hosea Benjamin Liston and Hazel Irene Forman Liston. He married the love of his life on May 24, 1958, Betty Alvina Arnold Liston who passed away July 1, 2017.
Charles had served honorably in the United States Army and had been stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
He traveled with his brothers to Minneapolis, North Dakota and California while working in the construction trade until he moved to Ohio. He also had been employed as a brakeman for the B & O Railroad for many years before retiring.
Charles was also known fondly as “Ed” by friends and family. He enjoyed hunting on his family home in West Virginia for many years. He also loved playing cards, watching his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, as well as NASCAR.
Memories will be carried on by his three children, Douglas Liston (Jill) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael Liston of Struthers, Ohio and Barbara Whitman of New Middletown, Ohio; his five grandchildren which he loved and gave him great joy, Valerie, Mathew, Hannah, Joshua and Shane. He is also survived by his wonderful sister who he loved very much, Elsie Everly of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia and his two brothers that he was very close to and loved a lot, Bert (Naomi) Liston of North Jackson, Ohio and Hosea “Bud” Liston of Boardman, Ohio. He adored and loved his many nieces, nephews and in-laws. They all had a very special place in his heart.
Preceding Charles were his parents, Hosea and Hazel Liston; his son, Charles A. Liston; his granddaughter, Ciera; his sisters, Mary and Lida and his brothers, Ora and Errol.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice, the doctors and nurses that took care of him and his family doctor, Dr. Albani, who took special care of him.
