Obituary

Eugene Edward Pyne, 96, of Liberty passed on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his residence with the love of his family surrounding him. He was born on June 9, 1924 in Dubois, Pennsylvania, the son of Maurice and Dorothy Hand Pyne.
He was a graduate of Sharon High School and while in his sixties, Eugene took enough art and photography courses to equal a major in art at Youngstown State University. He enjoyed taking photographs and had won many photography awards.
Eugene had been employed by Westinghouse in Sharon, Pennsylvania for 41 years.
On December 28, 1969, Eugene and Mary Markovich were united in marriage in St. Columba Cathedral.
He loved to dance, camp, travel and carve wood. In his seventies, Eugene became a ham radio operator and achieved the highest rank possible in a short time. Although he was in his eighties, he learned to fly radio controlled airplanes with the help of his teacher, Bill White.
Eugene, with his varied interests, held memberships in the Youngstown Photographic Society, where he served as past president, the 10/9 Radio Club, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Flying Aeros, the National Rifle Association and the Roundtable Woodcarvers Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sharon and three Masonic groups, where he had received two 50-year pins in two of the Masonic groups.
Eugene is survived by his caring wife, Mary and his brothers, Al (Pat) and Robert (Wikki).
Preceding Eugene in death were his parents and his sister, Geraldine.
A private service will be held at a later date.
His wife, Mary, wishes to thank the nurses at Mercy Health for such loving care, his devoted doctors, Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Wilkins and the nurses from Hospice of the Valley for their great care in the last hours of his life.
