Obituary for Barbara H. Yacavone

Barbara H. Rankin Yacavone, 84, of Campbell, Ohio passed on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Barbara was born on June 19, 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Helen Banasik Kowalsky. She was a 1952 graduate of South High School in Youngstown. Barbara attended Youngstown Business College.

She had been employed by several different businesses including Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a clerk and office manager of the Wick Park District. Barbara would retire from Metropolitan upon her marriage to Sal Yacavone.

Barbara was a member of St. Lucy Church of Christ Good Shepherd Parish. She donated her time as a volunteer at St. Lucy Church Palermo Center Kitchen for their pasta fagioli and spaghetti dinners, bake sales, mercy meals and other functions. Barbara had held the positions of president and vice president of the Carovillesi Ladies Social Club and also president of the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.

Barbara had various pastimes, including bowling on several leagues, crafts, ceramics, water color painting, cross stitching and fishing. Most of all she loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Cherished memories of Barbara will be carried on by her step-children, David (Jane) Yacavone, Kenneth (Ann) Yacavone, Nancy (Pete) Karpyk and Margaret (Dean) DiStasio; her grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Yacavone, Michelle McDonald, Andrew and Dominic DiStasio and Joshua Rankin and her great grandchildren, Evelyn and Gillian McDonald, Pryce Rankin and Jacob Yacavone.

Preceding Barbara in death were her son, Gene Rankin and her husband, Sal Yacavone.

The family will meet friends on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in St. Lucy Church in Campbell, Ohio followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Peter Polando as celebrant.

Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery.
